Rafael Papyan has worked with leading watch companies for a number of years (Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille, Ulysse Nardin, Parmigiani Fleurier, IWC, Roger Dubuis, Piaget, Jaeger-LeCoultre). In addition to the traditional collections of these brands, with their rich history and individual flair, Raff House will also host unique, innovative models made specially for this Moscow club. What’s more, some brands not available anywhere else in Russia will be on display at Raff House (Jean Dunand, Christophe Claret, Bernhard Lederer, and Maîtres du Temps). These independent manufactures are propelling the watch industry forward with their daring experimentation, amazing even the most discerning collectors.

The unique Parmigiani Fleurier watch Toric Capitole Ararat was commissioned by Rafael Papyan. The dial side of the watch is dominated by a hand engraving of Mount Ararat on a rose-gold plate that covers the movement and acts as a decorative panel. The outline of the mountain in the distance and a symbolic path leading to it are covered with translucent enamel highlighting the sector aperture, which serves as the hour and minute display. The timepiece is based on the Toric Minute Repeater Capitole, which has been a part of the Parmigiani collection for several years. The manufacture caliber PF 321 features a minute repeater with cathedral chimes and the sector time indicator. The time is displayed in a half-moon aperture, made of Tahiti mother-of-pearl, which contains the minute track with applique indexes marking quarter-hour sectors and 5-minute subdivisions. The hours (1 to 12) are Arabic numerals whose progress can be tracked from the first to 60th minute, before the next hour appears.
/ Looking at the dial through the magnifying glass, you can feel the emotions of the first man who saw our planet through the porthole of a space rocket. /
Bernhard Lederer designs watches that, while tracking the progress of time, must not remind their wearers how fleeting time is. The watchmaker has received numerous high-profile awards for his conceptual, philosophical models. One of the latest additions to his line-up, the Gagarin Tourbillon dedicated to the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and his mission, has sparked animated discussions among watch lovers. The orbital tourbillon cage (a hallmark of Lederer’s style) makes a full turn around its axis in 60 seconds and orbits the dial once every 108 minutes, which exactly equates the duration of Gagarin’s historic flight. The cage glides around the dial counterclockwise – a symbolic reminder that the Vostok-1 orbited Earth from west to east.
